2012 SAME Scholarship Program Golf Tournament and Pacific Industry Forum
The 2012 SAME Pacific Industry Forum was a great success. Attendees heard informative briefs from each of the service components on current engineering operations within the PACOM Area of Responsibility (AOR), service component transformation initiatives, and a small business panel headed by representatives from NAVFAC and USACE. Just before breaking for lunch, the forum received a brilliant presentation of robotics and science and engineering programs from the McKinley High School robotics team and students from the Waipahu Intermediate School science fair. Sustaining members also took advantage of the numerous opportunities to network with fellow members from the industry and government service. Between the golf tournament the day prior and the forum itself, sustaining members were able to raise over $12,000 for the SAME scholarship fund to support deserving undergraduate and graduate students. Thank you to all sustaining members who participated in the forum with their time and financial support, both to the forum itself and the several who helped sponsor the students and their teachers!
We also would like to give a special thank you to the SAME Pacific Industry Forum Committee for their hard work in coordinating and pulling together this year’s event. In particular, we’d like to thank Eric Jensen from Tetra Tech for coordinating the accommodations with the Ala Moana hotel, Jodie Cordero from Tetra Tech for overseeing registrations, Randy Lau from Designer Built Systems for running the golf tournament, Mark Tawara from Marketability for making the online registration possible and keeping the forum current, Will Boudra from Forest City Enterprises for coordinating sustaining member sponsorship for our student guests, and Iris Terashima from ITerashima Environmental Services for coordinating the student presentations.
