<h3>2012 SAME Honolulu Scholarship Program!</h3>
<p>Each year, SAME Honolulu offers several $2,500 scholarships to deserving high school seniors and college students who will be or are currently enrolled at a university with an accredited engineering or architecture program. <span id="more-1108"></span>In 2011, thanks to the generous donations of the Honolulu Post’s sustaining and general members, SAME Honolulu was able to award six $2,500 scholarships.</p>
<p>The application window has now closed for the 2012 SAME Honolulu Scholarship Program. In order to be considered, all applications and supporting documents needed to be postmarked by <strong>April 30, 2012</strong>. <h3>2011 SAME Honolulu Scholarship Winners</h3>
<p>Each year, SAME Honolulu offers several $2,500 scholarships to deserving high school seniors and college students who will be or are currently enrolled at a university with an accredited engineering or architecture program. <span id="more-625"></span>This year, thanks to the generous donations of the Honolulu Post’s sustaining and general members, SAME Honolulu was able to award six $2,500 scholarships to the following individuals:</p>
<ol>
<li><strong>James Joly</strong> of Mid-Pacific Institute who will attend the University of Southern California majoring in Aerospace/Astronautical Engineering.</li>
<li><strong>Brandon Arakawa </strong>of Hawaii Baptist Academy who will attend the University of Idaho majoring in Civil Engineering.</li>
<li><strong>Austin Barnes</strong> of the University of Hawaii at Manoa who is currently pursuing a Master’s degree in Ocean and Resources Engineering.</li>
<li><strong>William Tadekawa</strong> of Kaiser High School who will attend the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign majoring in Electrical Engineering.</li>
<li><strong>Catherine Kim</strong> of Kalani High School who will attend Stevens Institute of Technology majoring in Computer Science and Information Technology.</li>
<li><strong>Jewel Montgomery</strong> of Radford High School who will attend the University of Hawaii at Manoa majoring in Civil Engineering.</li>
</ol>
<p>The scholarship committee members consisted of <strong>Julie Chen</strong>, <strong>Paul Luersen</strong>, <strong>LCDR Andrew Wright</strong>, and <strong>Jeff Clark</strong>. A total of 29 applications were received with 3 applications disqualified after the initial screening. The committee evaluated a total of 26 very qualified applications.</p>
<p>Congratulations to all six scholarship winners for their achievements!</p>
